Consultant Solicitors

Thames Hill Solicitors is currently seeking self-sufficient solicitors specialising in Immigration Law and Public Law. We are offering a fantastic fee-sharing opportunity for consultants. To be successful, you should have an existing client base or demonstrate the ability to develop a consistent caseload to complement our current workload. This position is ideal for sole practitioners or solicitors with their own clients who wish to move away from the traditional law firm setup and join a team of innovative and forward-thinking lawyers. This is a freelance role with benefits such as flexible working hours, profit sharing, and the option to work remotely. 

Skills and Qualifications: 

⦁    Qualified solicitor with 3-5+ PQE
⦁    Ideally registered with the Law Society Immigration Accreditation at IAAS Level 2 
⦁    Experience managing a diverse caseload of immigration matters
⦁    Proficient in handling all private immigration matters including visas, work permits, asylum seekers, business immigration, and more
⦁    Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
⦁    Meticulous and highly organised, with strong prioritisation skills and compliance with file management
⦁    -Knowledge of Clio case management system is desirable but not required
⦁    Compassionate, empathetic, and dedicated to helping people
⦁    Works well both independently and as part of a team
⦁    Note: Fluency in multiple languages is desirable but not required

Level 2 Senior Caseworker under the Law Society's Immigration and Asylum Accreditation

Responsibilities

⦁    Work closely with the Supervising Partner and provide assistance with casework, which may involve Immigration and Public law affairs that are either funded by the Legal Aid Agency (LAA) or private client work. 
⦁    You must be comfortable handing various types of Immigration cases, which include assisting detained clients, supporting victims of trafficking and torture, and managing asylum matters from initial application stage to fresh claims (further submissions), as well as handling appeals and judicial review proceedings.
⦁    Manage your own caseload independently and undertake advocacy on behalf of clients.
⦁    Attend clients regularly to take instructions, prepare cases, handle correspondence, and draft documents such as witness statements, preparing appeal bundles
⦁    Prepare applications to the Home Office, including drafting application forms, letters of representation, and index of documents.
⦁    Drafting pre-action protocol letters and handling claims for judicial review and civil claims under supervision.  
⦁    Attend all relevant conferences and court hearings, keep accurate time costing records, and ensure compliance with file management.

Qualifications and skills:

⦁    At least 3 years of experience in immigration legal aid work.
⦁    Hold an accreditation of Level 2 Senior Caseworker under the Law Society's Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme (IAAS).
⦁    Familiarity with legal aid contract requirements
⦁    Preferred knowledge of the Clio case management system (but not essential).
⦁    Strong communication and interpersonal skills, excellent problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
⦁    Compassionate, empathetic, and professional when working with clients.
⦁    Proficient in computer skills for documentation purposes.
