Our Fees
Our fees are based on the SRA Transparency Rules. These rules aim for accuracy in the costs we charge for the services we provide to you.
Thames Hill Solicitors’ charges are based on the time we spend dealing with your matter, for example:
Going through your papers
Attendances with you
Time we spend preparing a written record of attendances
Time we spend travelling, waiting, preparing, reading, considering, or working on your papers
Time we spend making notes
Letters, emails, and faxes, received and out-going
Making and receiving telephone calls
Preparing your case
Conducting research
Third parties we engage for you and time engaged with that
Our fees vary and depend on;
Seniority;
Experience;
Skill;
Speed;
Time and;
Complexity of your matter.
Disbursements
Our fees do not include the charges you pay for disbursements. These are additional payments you make when you engage our services. If you are receiving assistance via legal aid, then ordinarily, you will not pay for any disbursements.
Disbursements for our private paying clients will be fees that third parties will charge you for their services. For example:
-
The fees you pay for your application to the Home Office
-
The fee you pay for the use of NHS (Immigration Healthcare Surcharge), barristers’ fees, court fees and fees that an expert may charge such as a doctor, country expert, interpreter or translation services
We will inform you in advance about any disbursement that you will likely incur. We will not pay disbursements for you unless you put us in funds. We will require money on account for any disbursement that you will likely incur. Unfortunately, we do not have the resource to pay disbursements for you.
How we charge our fee
Our fees are private fee paying and charged at either hourly or fixed (agreed) fee rate.
We will give the possible estimate about the number of hours we will likely take to complete your case. As this is an estimate, it may change but we shall inform you in advance if we are likely to exceed the estimated hours/time and agree the additional time to the incurred.
Sometimes, cases become complex for several reasons:
-
A change in the law.
-
Information or evidence coming into light late.
-
A change in your circumstances.
-
Where the above apply, we reserve the right to charge additional costs to reflect the complexity of your matter and additional time involved. We will of course agree any additional charges and the rate to apply.
Hourly Rate Charges
Please note that the government recommended hourly rates for solicitors in practice and depending on area of practice location can be found at:
